Basa has no Deal at Lille

Little Package Director Frederick insists Ligue 1 leaders have not signed a deal for Marko Basa.

The French group is strongly linked with the defender of Lokomotiv Moscow, while trying to replace the Valencia-bound Adil Rami.

Basa is understood to have a €1.5million release clause in his contract, which Lille is keen to trigger.

They were reported to be interested in the Montenegro international last summer, but never made a move.

Paquet claims that remains the case at present, with no agreement having been thrashed out for the former Le Mans centre-half.

“No commitment has been made so far and no deal has been agreed with that player,” he said in L’Equipe.

Meanwhile, Lille has tied one of the defenders currently on their books down on a new long-term deal.

Cameroon international Aurelien Chedjou has put pen to paper on a four-year contract, keeping him at the club until at least 2015.

“This proves that the club believes in me and that we can continue to grow together,” Chedjou told the club’s official website.

“It is an honor for me and a source of great satisfaction. Now that the club has proven their confidence in me, it is up to me to keep performing on the pitch. My heart is with Lille. I will never forget the fact that they gave me my chance in the game.”

He added: “It is always important to know what kind of structure that the squad is going to have for the future. To see so many players extend their contracts means that we will be keeping the nucleus of a good squad.

“We’ve all known for some time, and that makes it much easier to work together.”
