The cave is the Molyko stadium event will be considered the beginning and end. Foreign participation will be even more important than before: Athletics Kenya National recorded fifteen athletes. This will be the largest contingent from outside the borders of Cameroon.

In addition to many African countries, competitors from Europe, Asia and America have also taken their registration. It’s a total of nine hundred athletes including eight hundred Cameroonians who will launch an assault on the “Chariots of the Gods”, a mountain which rises to over 4000 meters.

Since it was renamed “Race of Hope” in 1995, competition has always been won by the Cameroonian originating from mountainous regions of the West. Joseph WIRB is the defending champion with a time of 4:36. In the women, Yvonne Ngwaya won the race last year 5h28mn.

She holds the last two editions. “I am driven to achieve a hat trick I know it will not be easy but I am determined,” said she. Sarah Etongue already retired and the late Timothy Lekunze is emblematic figures of this very popular traditional competition.

Apart from the race, economic and cultural attractiveness organized tourism, giving an appearance as the event. “The Ascent of Mount Cameroon is the highlight of our Federation. To your success, as a kind of a big outdoor party,” says Sebastian Mboussa, president of athletics in Cameroon.
