Cameroon: Hui Liangyu Assess Multi Purpose Sports Complex
Chinese Vice Premier Hui Liangyu, in one of his regular visit to Cameroon yesterday, made a brief but symbolic visit to the country’s built Yaounde sports complex versatile for evaluating Chinese expertise presented in the construction of facilities sports.
Less of a break of 30 minutes in a quiet complex Warda gave visiting Chinese official to obtain up to date with what their country and their countrymen have put in place to subscribe to what many have described the mutual and fruitful 40 years of Sino-Cameroon.
Though brief, Mr Hui Liangyu and his delegation watched with visible satisfaction a projection of the different steps of the construction of the sports complex. With flags of Cameroon and China floating in and around the edifice, the guests were also thrilled by a two-phase choreographic display comprising a ballet and Cameroon dance.
From within the complex where the band of the Higher Institute of Youth and Sports (INJS) sang songs of praise, hailing the bilateral cooperation, to the courtyard where dance groups gesticulated untiringly, the visit to the sports complex was a veritable testimony that Cameroon-China relations are yielding desired dividends.
And the architectural 5,200-capacity sports complex, described variously as a jewel of rare quality worth some FCFA14 billion constructed by over a thousand technicians from Cameroon and China and inaugurated in June 2009 by President Paul Biya definitely deserved a visit from the Chinese guest.
It was indeed an honour for the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Michel Zoah, alongside Cameroon’s Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Jean Nkuete, to welcome Hui Liangyu and his delegation to the building.
The complex that holds a large running space for athletes, conference halls and powerful sound, lighting systems and press cabins is now a must-visit place in Cameroon.
Cameroon is not only now receiving national and international competitions, both individual and team sports, but also hosts cultural events such as concerts, festivals and other public events.
