Patrick Mboma Former Cameroon Striker Named Japan World Cup 2022 Bid Ambassador

Former Cameroon international Patrick Mboma has been named as the ambassador for the Japan 2022 World Cup bid.

“He will play a crucial role in communicating Japan’s stand point to FIFA, the various football confederations across the world and the global media while also winning the support of the Japanese public,” a member of the Japan 2022 World Cup Bid Committee told journalists.

The retired striker who is currently awaiting an appointment as the new football coordinator for Cameroon was hugely successful during his time in the J-League where he played for Gamba Osaka, Tokyo Verdy and Vissel Kobe and scored 48 goals in 79 appearances.

The Bid Committee is currently approaching players, coaches, and other members of the football family to join its Bid Ambassador team in ensuring they win the World Cup hosting rights in 2022 after their last involvement as co-host with Korea.
