Cameroon FA To Explain Their Choice Of New Coach Javier Clemente
Cameroon’s football federation, FECAFOOT, announced on Thursday via their website the holding of a press conference meant to explain the reasons that prompted the body to choose Spanish-born Javier Clemente as the new coach of the Indomitable Lions.
Following the Lions’ recent debacle at the 2010 World Cup, former coach Paul Le Guen was fired and the Cameroonian football authorities went on the hunt of a new coach in Europe.
Former Atletico Madrid and Olympique de Marseille coach Javier Clemente, 60, was picked from the crowd, and he is expected to arrive in Yaounde on August 28 to sign a two-year contract.
The press conference, expected to pull local and international journalists, will be held at the Hotel Mont Febe at 10am GMT.
Clemente’s first task will be to revive a dwindling Cameroon national team ahead of the 2012 AFCON qualifiers which begin early September.
