Eyong Takang Enow Out

After sustaining an eye injury during the Cameroon versus Denmark encounter, he has been given two weeks off.

Information from the Indomitable Lions den in Durban say, Eyong Takang Enow is out of the World cup competition. The Cameroonian midfielder, who was injured on his right eye last Saturday during the encounter pitting the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon to The Dynamites of Denmark, has been given two weeks off the football pitch. “I received a blow on my right eye and could not see for the last fifteen minutes of the first half. That is why I was replaced and taken to the hospital. Medical reports say some tissues of the eye have been damaged, blood has also clouded. I have been given some eye-drops and told to stay off the pitch for two weeks in order not to aggravate the injury.” Explained the polyvalent player

Apart from Eyong Enow, another injured player is Georges Mandjeck. Though not ruled out from next Thursday’s encounter, the Cameroonian right-half back was absent yesterday from the turf of the North Land Primary School, where the Lions had their first veritable training session after the shocking defeat against Denmark. Just like after the encounter against Japan, a precarious calm prevailed at the training ground with several players refusing to talk to the press. Apart from Stephane Mbia, Souleymanou Ahmidou and Eyong Enow, the other players especially the “1984″ don’t want to see any media man around them. According to one of them, it is needless to talk to people who have been saying they are too old and don’t have to future in the national team again. A reporter of a Yaounde based newspaper who also reports for an online publication “Camfoot” received threats from Alexandre Song. According to the player in dreadlocks, the reporter had written and published a story accusing him of orchestrating a bust-up in the Lions bus by ordering a senior player to get up and give him his seat. “Are you Fouda go and continue writing false stories. The day I will sit-down to talk, you will be ashamed of yourself, fumed the Arsenal defensive midfielder.

His anger did not however mar the convivial atmosphere that prevailed between some members of the technical staff and the media. According to one of them Cameroon is a beautiful country. Even if the team is eliminated and their contract not renewed, he will continue visiting Cameroon in order to have a good taste of “Ndole” and roasted fish.
