Major Works Near Completion in Bamenda….

Electricity, water and road works are virtually over thanks to special funding from President Biya.
Bamenda has been a busy work site since President Paul Biya who is Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces announced early in the year that the city will host celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the nation’s Armed Forces in 2010. The event which shall honour the city and the historic land of Fons, is on virtually every lip in the Region and the population is mobilizing to rise to expectation in their demonstration of gratitude and loyalty to the Head of State.

A major plus before the celebrations was a revelation by Governor Abakar Ahamat that President Paul Biya had ordered that provision be made for FCFA 5 billion to rehabilitate roads, water and electricity supply and improve on health and tourism infrastructure in Bamenda and neighbourhoods ahead of the golden jubilee of the Armed forces credited with services for peace and development. In effect, Bamenda is a huge work site with inhabitants eager to see the projects completed to give the city a new lease of life.

That apart, efforts by the Bamenda City Council to make Bamenda a dream city is evident. There is already a new look given to the town with the displacement of containers from all road sides and houses along the streets orders by the Council for dilapidating or poorly constructed structures to be demolished or painted. The state of preparedness by the concerned ministries ahead has been declared as satisfactory as all the local officials confirmed to Cameroon Tribune.
