Avatar: Orissa tribes appeal to Director James Cameroon to join their cause
Avatar seem to have inspired a lot of people and the cause for which the Na’vi people fought is all set to be a reality as the Orissa tribe of Dongria who are now in a similar situation like the Na’vi clan is getting ready to fight its counterparts, a mining company who want to plunder their sacred Mountains.
According to an ad placed in Variety the Dongria clan requests Avatar director James Cameroon to join there cause of saving their sacred mountains. The Dongria tribe that resides in the Niyamgiri Hills is trying to stop a London based Indian-mining company “Vedanta Resources plc” from extracting Bauxite from their mountains which are said to be a sacred thing for them. “Vedanta Resources plc”was founded in 1976 and is owned by Indian Billionaire Anil Agarwal.
The Dongria tribe made their plea to the Oscar Winning Director through a 10-minute Documentary “Mine: Story of a Sacred Mountain”, Directed by British Actress Joanna Lumley and thanks to international NGO Survival International that are helping them to spread their request worldwide.
